Diabetes

Content written by Martin Miner, MD

Diabetes mellitus is a common health problem in our society. Men who have this condition often have associated vascular, neurologic, hormonal and psychologic issues. Sexual health problems such as reduced interest, erectile function, ejaculation and orgasm intensity are reported far more frequently in men with diabetes than in men without these conditions. The vascular, neurologic, hormonal and psychologic issues associated with diabetes are commonly the cause of the sexual problem. A thorough examination, however, is required for each patient to determine the specific cause(s) and therefore appropriate management.
